Ioannis Dokas

Ioannis is a Professor specializing in Systems Safety Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTh), Civil Engineering Department. He leads the Risk and Resilience Research Centre (RiskAC), a new research infrastructure in DUTh with scientists across 10 research teams. He is an internationally recognized expert in safety science and systems engineering. Ioannis has extensive international experience from positions at leading research institutes in Germany and Ireland.  He brings expertise in systems safety, risk management, early warning systems, and crisis management. He is an associate editor at the prestigious Safety Science journal and is an invited member of the IFIP Working Group on IT in Disaster Risk Reduction. His recent research focuses on AI-enhanced safety systems.
